Taylor, who delivered his first multi-score performance since 2021 in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, is poised to miss multiple games as he is scheduled to undergo surgery this Wednesday, as reported by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, who cited Irsay as the source.
A determination regarding whether Taylor will be placed on the injured reserve list will be made at a later time.
In the Colts' Week 12 victory over Tampa Bay, Taylor rushed for 91 yards and scored two touchdowns, remaining on the field for the entire game, amassing 42 snaps and 15 carries.
He concluded the game with an eight-yard rush with 1:24 left on the clock, allowing the Colts to run out the clock.
With Taylor sidelined, the Colts will turn to Zack Moss to shoulder the workload. Moss had previously been one of the NFL's top rushers during Taylor's absence earlier this season and has posted career-best numbers in 2023, with 672 yards rushing and five touchdowns to his name.
