All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard has become a free agent after clearing waivers following his release from the Indianapolis Colts. As reported by Cowboys correspondent Calvin Watkins, the NFC East team is set to host him for a visit this week.
"Given Mike McCarthy's interest in Shaq Leonard," Watkins announced on Sunday evening, "a source close to the situation has confirmed that Leonard will be visiting the Cowboys this week. The exact date is yet to be finalized."
Dallas is currently in need of a linebacker due to Leighton Vander Esch's season-ending neck injury and the loss of rookie DeMarvion Overshown to a torn ACL during training camp.
For Leonard, this presents an opportunity to join a contender and potentially enhance his already impressive résumé, which includes three All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowl appearances, with the possibility of adding a Super Bowl to the list.
