Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has announced that one of the team's linebackers will be sidelined for the entire 2023 season due to a neck injury. Leighton Vander Esch's 2023 season has come to an end following a neck injury sustained during Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers. There are speculations that this injury could potentially spell the end of his career. Jones addressed the situation during an interview with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, refraining from commenting on retirement rumors but confirming that Vander Esch won't be making a comeback this season.

"It's a significant loss for us," Jones expressed, as reported by The Athletic's Jon Machota. "We just wish him well." Vander Esch has a history of neck issues dating back to 2018 when he was still a draft prospect, leading several teams to remove him from their draft boards. This recent injury adds to the list of setbacks he has encountered since turning professional, raising the possibility that he might consider retiring from football this time.

Having earned $16.6 million in the NFL, Vander Esch may be enticed to step away from the game after this latest setback. Our best wishes go out to him for his future endeavors.
