Although the star quarterback from USC has yet to officially declare for the NFL draft, he announced today that he won't be taking the field for the Trojans in their upcoming Holiday Bowl matchup against Louisville later this month. This decision is seen as the next step in Williams' path to the NFL, as most projections have him as the likely top pick in the 2024 draft.
With Williams sidelined, USC will now turn to either redshirt sophomore Miller Moss or freshman Malachi Nelson.
Williams concludes the 2023 season with impressive stats, amassing 3,633 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions for the 7-5 Trojans. These numbers, while notable, don't quite match the 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns that earned him the Heisman Trophy in 2022.
