BREAKING: Official Destination Announced For AFC Championship «Neutral Site» Between Bills And Chiefs
A potential AFC Championship Game between the No. 2-seeded Buffalo Bills and No. 1-seeded Kansas City Chiefs would take place in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the NFL announced Thursday.
The game would take place at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 29. All other potential AFC Championship Game matchups would take place at the home stadium of the higher seed, the league said.
The league decided after the Week 17 game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals was canceled because of safety Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field and going into cardiac arrest.
"We are also grateful to Arthur Blank and the Atlanta Falcons for agreeing to host the AFC Championship Game in Atlanta should the Bills and Chiefs advance. We thank both of those clubs for their assistance in the planning process. We know, if necessary, Mercedes-Benz Stadium will provide a world class atmosphere for the competing teams, our fans and partners."
The Chiefs (14-3) clinched the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye on Saturday. The Bills secured the No. 2 seed and will face the Miami Dolphins.
