The Bears are trading LB Roquan Smith. This is huge.
They will get second- and fifth-round picks in return, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Smith was unhappy in the offseason and asked for a trade. Eventually, he came back to play for the Chicago Bears and has had a productive first half of the season. He even played well enough that he got traded to a contender.
The No. 8 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft has recorded 83 tackles, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions this season. Through four-plus seasons, the Georgia product has missed just four total games.
Smith is in the final year of his rookie contract and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
This means that the Bears will add 2023 second- and fifth-round picks to the fourth-round selection they got in the Quinn deal.
Smith will join Patrick Queen, Josh Bynes, A.J. Klein, Malik Harrison, Del'Shawn Phillips, and Kristian Welch at linebacker in Baltimore.
