Last Sunday, during a match against the Patriots, Garoppolo exited the game due to a back injury, resulting in a hospital visit. Hoyer took the reins in the second half, marking his debut for the regular season. He guided the Raiders to triumph, throwing for 102 yards.
Earlier this season, Garoppolo sat out a game after suffering a concussion. The Raiders had then chosen rookie Aidan O'Connell as the starting QB, but he faced challenges, throwing 238 yards and an interception in a defeat against the Chargers.
Hoyer's NFL journey began in 2009, predominantly with the Patriots, but he has also played for seven other teams. Since the 2018 season, Hoyer has had three starts, with his latest being for the Patriots the previous year.
On the other side, the Bears will have Tyson Bagent as their quarterback, stepping in for the injured Justin Fields. The game at Soldier Field in Chicago is slated for a 1 p.m. ET start on Sunday.
