The city of Buffalo, New York has been hammered by a brutal blizzard that has sadly taken the lives of over two dozen people this week.

Well, even though Buffalo was struck with a very dangerous snowstorm, it looks like the Bills may have received some preferential treatment. Or did they?

According to Erie County, the team asked for a police escort to return to their homes, and they were denied. So, they drove themselves and the city is not thrilled.

«They were not allowed to travel. They did,» said Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz. «At that time, there was actually heavy snow still. I don't want anybody to think that Erie County gave preferential treatment to the Bills.

However, here is a statement from Aaron Besecker:

The Buffalo Bills say they did not ask the Erie County Sheriff's Office or New York State Police for an escort to help complete their trip back home from Saturday's game in Chicago during the blizzard on Christmas Day.

State police and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz say the Bills did, but got turned down.

Poloncarz said Wednesday that after the Bills flew into Rochester, they got no "preferential" treatment in their journey back to Buffalo while a travel ban was in place.

He said the team reached out to the Erie County Sheriff's Office and asked for an escort into town, but were denied.

Ron Raccuia, Bills' executive vice president and COO, told The Buffalo News that never happened.

Raccuia said the team made the «very difficult decision» to come back during Christmas Day, because there were 150-plus people in the traveling party who wanted to be with their families and that they «tried to do it as safely as possible.»
