Building a Strong Connection: Justin Fields and DJ Moore Emerge as Unstoppable Duo
In the recent seismic shift of the 2023 NFL draft, the Bears took an audacious step - instead of retaining the No. 1 overall pick, they opted to trade down, but not without a catch. They demanded the Panthers part ways with their stellar wide receiver, DJ Moore. And for the Bears' signal-caller, Justin Fields, it was a move he couldn't be happier about.
Bears' safety Jaquan Brisker spilled the beans on how Fields and Moore have been clicking during the Organized Team Activities (OTAs). Their camaraderie was so organic and instantaneous that it felt as if they had been sporting the same jersey for seasons.
"They've jumped onto the same wavelength incredibly quickly, much sooner than I'd have guessed," Brisker mentioned in conversation with NBCSportsChicago.com. "They're completely in sync. It's like they've been best buds for ages. Justin is consistently targeting him with passes. There's no question, Moore is his go-to guy. And as for Justin, he's operating like clockwork. Navigating through his progressions seamlessly, making sound calls on the field, and shaping up to be the NFL's finest quarterback. I had this gut feeling last year, but this year it's just on another level. Just wait and watch. You'll see the magic these two create together."
Reflecting on the previous season, the Bears didn't have a single wide receiver who chalked up even 500 receiving yards. The honor of leading the team in catches fell on tight end Cole Kmet, who managed 50 catches amassing 544 yards. On the flip side, Moore has a stellar record with three 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. The Bears are pumped to see Moore ascend to become Fields' premier receiver, with the hope that this on-field bond will flourish for numerous seasons to come.
