As the 2023 NFL regular season approaches its conclusion, the focus of some football fans has already shifted towards the 2024 NFL Draft. According to SportsLine data scientist Stephen Oh, the Chicago Bears hold a commanding 95.7% probability of securing the coveted No. 1 overall pick, thanks to an offseason trade that brought them the Carolina Panthers' 2024 first-round selection. Carolina's dismal 2-13 record currently ranks them as the league's worst team, setting the stage for Chicago to claim the top spot in the draft for the second consecutive year.

General manager Ryan Poles faces a compelling dilemma with this top pick. Will he once again entertain offers from the highest bidders, or will he opt for a quarterback to potentially replace Justin Fields? Many pundits consider Caleb Williams, hailing from USC, as the premier quarterback in this draft class. Chicago's fanbase has already engaged in spirited debates over whether he is the franchise's future or if another choice should be made.

On Christmas Eve, a Chicago sports enthusiast took to social media, suggesting that the Bears should select Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. while retaining Fields as their quarterback. The post tagged USC's signal-caller, and he reacted by "liking" it.

While some might hastily assume that Williams' "like" indicates a desire not to be drafted by Chicago, it's essential not to jump to conclusions. The star quarterback may simply be taking note of Bears fans' opinions, whether they are in favor of him or believe that Harrison would be a superior pick. There are various possible reasons for his response.

Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2022 and earned unanimous All-American honors last season, did face some challenges during the 2023 campaign. Nevertheless, he still managed to throw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, even as the Trojans posted a 7-5 record.

As it stands, all three of our CBS Sports NFL Draft experts project Williams as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft, although not all of them predict that he will end up with the Bears.
