Wentz's journey has seen him recently serve as the backup quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams during Week 10 of the previous season, after spending the first half without a team. Prior to that, he was with the Washington Commanders in 2022 but was released in February 2023 with two years left on his contract.
Aged 31, Wentz showcased his prowess in the Rams' regular-season finale against the San Francisco 49ers, stepping in for Matthew Stafford. He completed 17 of 24 passes, accumulating 163 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Notably, he also led both teams in rushing with 56 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Wentz's NFL journey began when he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 2 pick in 2016. After six seasons with the Eagles, he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2020. Despite a strong performance with the Colts, questions arose regarding his status with the team after struggling in crucial late-season games.
Following his stint with the Colts, Wentz joined the Washington Commanders in 2021 through a trade, playing eight games and throwing 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions before being sidelined due to injury and eventually benched.
Throughout his NFL career spanning eight seasons, Wentz has displayed consistent performance, completing 62.7% of his passes for 22,292 yards, 153 touchdowns, and 67 interceptions.
