GM Ryan Poles expressed his excitement on Tuesday, saying, «We just needed a couple more days to ensure he was good to go. The anticipation around him is high; he's been clocking in overtime with our staff to get up to speed.»
A lingering soft tissue problem, as characterized by head coach Matt Eberflus, had kept Claypool out of most OTAs and minicamp. While the consensus was that Claypool would be back on track for training camp, a twist came on Sunday when the team placed him on the PUP list. But as of Monday, Claypool was back off the list, ready to join the fray.
Despite a knee niggle, Claypool was fit enough to team up with Justin Fields and other key players for workouts in Florida. Fields vouched for Claypool's good form, before mentioning a minor knee concern.
Fields praised Claypool's commitment to learning and improving, saying, «He's made a considerable effort to grasp the complexities of our offense, which was particularly challenging as he joined us midseason last year. This spring, I was really impressed by his drive and how he tackled each day with full determination.
