Is it déjà vu for Chicago Bears fans? The team appears to be headed for another losing season and a repeat last-place finish in the NFC North. However, there's a glimmer of optimism for the future, thanks to a significantly improved defense and some fortunate draft picks by the Carolina Panthers.

Yet, Bears tight end Cole Kmet isn't rushing to offer praise, even after an impressive 28-13 victory against the 9-4 Detroit Lions.

"You're not going to throw a parade for winning two games in a row," Kmet remarked, as reported by Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. "We've got a long way to go till the end. But it's definitely a positive. We've been seeing things on tape that have been showing up, and we've been liking it. This is a results league. It's nice to see the result go our way."

But are the Bears genuinely on the right path this time?

Chicago's record stands at 5-8 for the season, with numerous concerns to address on the offensive front. Quarterback Justin Fields is undeniably improving (with two total touchdowns and no turnovers in Sunday's win), but the organization might find it challenging to resist selecting his potential replacement with the potential No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL Draft. The thought of enduring more growing pains with a new QB is agonizing for fans who have been asked for patience for an extended period.

However, Kmet and his teammates aren't dwelling on the future. They're focused on building on the success of the past two weeks and aiming to snatch a victory from the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.

"We're not going to act like we're not aware of what's going on," said the 24-year-old, who had five catches for 66 yards against Detroit. "We have to run the table [to make the playoffs]. We have been looking better, and I do believe in that, but the results have to come with that."

As the Bears prepare for their contest against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, they'll strive to inch their fans a bit closer to the realm of hope.
