Did Ryan Poles See Hester, Deebo or Tyreek in this WR?
This is a highly controversial pick. There are many mixed emotions among Chicago Bears fans with this pick. The more I look at his highlights and read reviews about him, the more I like this pick. YES, HE WILL BE A 25-YEAR-OLD ROOKIE WHEN THE SEASON STARTS. I do not want to focus on that, I would like to focus on his strengths. One major knock against him is his route running, however from what I have heard, he started coming into his own late and his production saw a spike. These are some of the strengths and weaknesses that I saw.
(Strengths)
-He is listed at 6'0 feet and 204 pounds, he isn't small-EXTREMELY fast, BREATHTAKING speed(4.31 at the combine)-Fits in the mold of Devin Hester(Returner/Speed/Vision), Deebo Samuel(Wide back ability), and Tyreek Hill(Speed/explosiveness). ***IF he can be HALF as good as all of these, we have a steal.***-He can line up on the outside as well as the inside -He has running back like run after the catch ability -PREMIER balance and body control -HE CAN FINISH the catch EVEN IF he is getting hit -Ryan Poles noted he was durable -He improved his route running later in the season
(Weaknesses)
-He will be 25 years old at the start of the season(an older rookie)-He has a limited route tree-He can tip off defenders of his route-MAYBE like 4-5 years left of elite speed vs 6-7
Overall, I like this pick the more that I look at him. I personally believe that his floor is Cordarrelle Patterson and his ceiling can be a mixture of Hester, Hill, and Samuel. If this is true, Bears fans... YOU WILL LOVE HIM. Something else that caught my ear was that Ryan Poles said that he and Justin Fields watched film together and he was one of the guys they watched. The fact that Ryan Poles included Justin Fields speaks volumes not only for this year but for years to come
