Many analysts and insiders were surprised with Poles taking not only one but two additions to the secondary with their first two selections.
A safety from Penn State is nothing new to Chicago. In 2015 the Bears selected Adrian Amos, another Penn State safety. Amos started all four years on the defense and his play was tremendous. Year in and out Adrian Amos is one of the highest-graded safeties according to Pro Football Focus.
Jaquan Brisker is expected to fill in the role next to former All-Pro Safety, Eddie Jackson. Brisker appeared in games for three consecutive seasons for the Nittany Lions, and you could find him all over the field. Brisker has over 300 snaps at safety, in the slot, and in the box. Whether is coverage, run defense, or blitzing the quarterback Brisker has many tools in his belt.
Brisker has received much praise from insiders and coaches already and we have not even a reached training camp. Brisker and fellow second-round selection Kyler Gordon is expected to revamp the secondary, along with Eddie Jackson and Jaylon Johnson.
Head Coach Matt Eberflus is known for having high expectations for his defense, especially their intensity, effort, and willingness to tackle and turn the ball over. Brisker should allow him to blossom all over the field at multiple positions for the Bears in Eberflus' defense.
