During a high school football game last month, a student player and a referee unexpectedly collided. The aftermath saw the referee react by removing the player's helmet.

The incident, which took place in a match between Whitney and Dallas Madison at Seagoville Stadium in Dallas, is now under investigation by the University Interscholastic League, the body overseeing Texas high school football.

Footage from the game shows the Whitney linebacker accidentally making contact with the referee twice. Following the second collision, the referee responded by forcefully grabbing the player's facemask and detaching his helmet. Subsequently, the official penalized the player, who was then ejected from the game.

Such unintentional contact between players and officials is not uncommon in football. Nevertheless, the nature of this particular incident has raised concerns.

In an official statement, the University Interscholastic League expressed their awareness of the situation and emphasized their intent to investigate the matter diligently. The game eventually saw Whitney defeating Dallas Madison with a score of 56-28, as reported by MaxPreps.
