Cam Robinson played his first 5 seasons for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was drafted with the 34th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. He played his college ball at the great university of Alabama.
Robinson is a very talented player that struggles from time to time in run blocking. However, he showed some great flashes, especially in pass blocking situations. That is the most important aspect of playing the left tackle position. He plays a very powerful game. He has literally all the tools to become a great tackle. Robinson should be entering his prime. He is 26 years old. It is obviously more difficult to analyze an offensive lineman simply by looking at the stats. So, I believe that looking at his advanced metrics is a good way to learn more about him. His Pro Football Focus grade was a 68. That is very respectable. For example, Bears' rookie offensive lineman Larry Borom had a grade of 61. It is worth mentioning that Robinson only gave up 1 sack in 14 games last year.
I think it would be a great fit and it would be on par with the philosophy we expect Ryan Poles to take, which is that he will be more involved in the 2nd and 3rd wave of the free agency market. Robinson would 100% fill a part of probably the biggest need for the Bears. This would not fix the offensive line completely, but it should probably help.
Here are a couple of clips against some elite pass rushers.
