The Chicago Bears are on the hunt for a new defensive coordinator after the recent resignation of Alan Williams on September 20. Interestingly, their former star linebacker, Danny Trevathan, has expressed interest in the role.

After a hiatus of over two years from the social media platform X, previously Twitter, Trevathan put forth his desire to fill the role by stating, «DT the DC,» on September 20, adding, «Y'all know the number.»

While Trevathan's seriousness about transitioning to coaching remains uncertain, his accolades on the field cannot be overlooked.

**A Brief Look at Danny Trevathan's Stint with the Bears**

At 33, Trevathan, originally selected by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2012 draft, boasts an impressive career, pivotal in Denver's Super Bowl 50 win in 2015. Post his Super Bowl triumph, the Bears secured him with a four-year deal worth $28 million in 2016, and a subsequent extension in 2020. He played 67 games (starting 62) during his six-year tenure in Chicago.

His stats with the Bears include 459 tackles (310 solo, 19 for loss), 16 quarterback hits, 21 pass deflections, four forced fumbles, three interceptions, and seven sacks. Yet, despite his commitment, injuries overshadowed his time in Chicago, with severe injuries in 2016, 2019, and 2021.

**Bears' Next Steps in Their Defensive Coordinator Hunt**

Regardless of Trevathan's intent, it's plausible the Bears might choose their next DC from their existing staff. Given Trevathan's lack of coaching experience, he might not be a top contender.

While Bears' head coach Matt Eberflus has remained discreet about their next move, he's expressed confidence in his defensive team. He highlighted professionals like Andre Curtis, Jon Hoke, Dave Borgonzi, and David Overstreet on September 20, indicating they might be potential contenders for the role.

Among them, Hoke, with 18 years of coaching in diverse roles, stands out. Borgonzi's collaboration with Eberflus during their time with the Colts also makes him a notable mention.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding their DC position, the team remains resilient. As Luke Getsy, Bears' offensive coordinator, put it, the team is consistent in its beliefs and values even amidst challenges.
