An ex-New England Patriots player has offered insight into why he thinks Robert Kraft won't dismiss Bill Belichick.

Currently, the Patriots are facing challenges, having recently suffered a significant defeat to the New Orleans Saints without scoring a point. Their 1-4 record at the beginning of the season mirrors their weak start during Belichick's inaugural year as head coach in 2000.

Despite being outpaced 72-3 over their last two matches, it seems Belichick's position remains secure, even amidst increasing speculations.

Asante Samuel, who clinched two Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, proposed a theory about Belichick's seemingly unshakeable status. The esteemed cornerback believes Kraft might be apprehensive about Belichick. In a conversation with TMZ, he shared, «It feels like Mr. Kraft is somewhat intimidated by Coach Belichick. Belichick seems to wield enormous power and influence. Despite this, Kraft has the authority to intervene, yet he doesn't.»

He further remarked, «The entire Patriots legacy seems to be attributed to one man. I sometimes wonder if Belichick has leverage over Kraft. Otherwise, it's perplexing why this has continued for so long with such unwavering faith in Belichick." Since Tom Brady's departure, the Patriots have struggled, failing to make the playoffs twice. Conversely, Brady clinched a seventh Super Bowl title before his retirement, debunking any notions of his decline.

Adding to the narrative, it's worth noting that Belichick's decisions played a role in Brady's exit from the Patriots.

Samuel emphasized the team's present challenges, suggesting, «Brady could rejoin the team today and lead them to a Super Bowl victory. That's the caliber of Tom Brady.»

Next up for the Patriots are the Las Vegas Raiders. Given their current trajectory, a 1-5 record by the end of that matchup wouldn't be surprising.
