In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears drafted quarterback Justin Fields, and the organization was forever changed. For the better part of the last 30 years, we haven't had a solid quarterback. Cutler was close but always fell short and lacked the leadership needed to take the team to the next level.

In comes Justin, a two-time Graham George Offensive Player of the Year winner, 2021 College Playoff National Champion, NFL single-game QB rushing record holder, and one of three quarterbacks in the NFL to run for 1000 yards in the season. The record holder is also the only QB to rush for a touchdown in six consecutive games.

Justin had a rough freshman year with cracked ribs, finger, and ankle injuries, and catching covid. So I generally give him a pass on his freshman campaign and chalked it up to bad luck. This past year however has shown us that we can bank on Fields for the future of the Bears.

Justin is the catalyst that is changing the organization. Since Justin joined, we got Ryan Poles as our GM, we have a new President in Kevin Warren, we've made significant coach upgrades with the likes of Matt Eberflus, and we've slowly started to add weapons to our offense. We have a young team guys, and they are going to make mistakes; they are going to have bad stretches. You don't become a contender without learning what not to do along the way.

I think Fields has earned his place in the Bears organization, we finally have a talented YOUNG quarterback who is agile, mobile, quick thinking, and can throw the ball. Yes, we have no offensive line, and we need some speed at the receiver position, but we do in fact have a QB.

I don't believe there is anybody in that organization that is contemplating trading Fields, If they could lock him into a career-long contract, I'm sure they would. Had Fields not taken off week 17 to rest, he would beat Lamar Jackson's single-season rushing record, and honestly, I'd be surprised if he doesn't play an entire season and beat it next year.

The Bears are not going to trade a QB they invested their entire future in after 2 seasons because some fans expect instant results. Be patient and let the organization cook; we have the number one pick, just about $100 million in cap space, a young team, a good QB, some promising receivers, and leadership with the best interest of the franchise in mind that respects the legacy of the team. So be patient, have a coke and a smile, and let Justin develop, don't be a fairweather fan.
