Fired Panthers HC Matt Rhule Getting Blasted For Saying He Regrets Taking Carolina Job

Nebraska has named Matt Rhule as the school's new football coach, signing him to an eight-year contract.

Rhule, who was fired by the NFL's Carolina Panthers in October, previously had successful stints in college football at Baylor and Temple. A news conference is scheduled for Monday.

Rhule replaces Scott Frost, who was fired from his alma mater earlier this season after a 1-2 start. Mickey Joseph was promoted to interim head coach.

Rhule is settling into his new job as Nebraska head coach, but he took time to look back at his troubled stint with the Carolina Panthers.

His deduction? Rhule wouldn't have taken the job, knowing what he knows now.

"I think I probably would just have taken another job," Rhule said on The Season with Peter Schrager podcast. "A great place with wonderful people, but I just don't know if I was a fit there."
