In December, the nation witnessed the former Patriots luminary Willie McGinest perpetrate an assault on an individual, accompanied by his cohorts, at a restaurant in Los Angeles.

McGinest was apprehended for the offense. As per TMZ Sports, he has now been accused of two felonies. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office purportedly filed the charges this week. The New England Patriots' Super Bowl champion has been charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of assault by means of force that is likely to cause great bodily harm. Both allegations entail a prison sentence of up to four years. TMZ further reported that his arraignment for the case has been arranged for April.

The former NFL linebacker, 51, could be witnessed punching a man in the face before grabbing a bottle and shattering it on the individual's head. He was imprisoned and later paid the $30,000 bond. He eventually issued a statement expressing remorse for the incident. He termed the event a "lapse in judgment and behavior."

"First and foremost, I extend my sincerest apologies for my error in judgment and behavior on December 9 at a West Hollywood restaurant. To my family, community, friends, and the youth I mentor, please know that I feel terrible for my actions and take complete responsibility," McGinest stated.
