As the NFL kicks off Week 1, there's much uncertainty about the Green Bay Packers in the post-Aaron Rodgers era.

Now that Rodgers has transitioned to New Jersey, the Packers are entrusting their future to quarterback Jordan Love as they start the 2023 season against the Bears at Soldier Field.

The Bears are strategizing for Love based on the Packers' overall strategy, given Love's limited NFL appearances. However, with three ex-Packers now in their ranks and a coach who had a say in Love's 2019 draft, the Bears have some insights for Sunday.

Robert Tonyan, the Bears' recent tight end addition, said to NBC Sports Chicago, "He's indeed a gifted player. His first-round selection had a reason behind it. When he played against Kansas City and the Eagles, he showcased some commendable plays. Experience in actual games refines a player."

Luke Getsy, Bears' offensive coordinator, was in the Packers' decision-making group that chose Love in 2020. After observing Love mature over two seasons under Rodgers, Getsy is familiar with Love's potential. "His college tapes reflect his athletic prowess and natural passing skills. He adapted well and has been continually improving," noted Getsy.

Tonyan, who played five NFL seasons with Green Bay, noted Love's growth from observing Rodgers. "Transitioning from Utah State to the NFL is a leap. As Love got more practice, his confidence soared, especially now, leading the team," Tonyan added.

Lucas Patrick, another former Packer, vouched for Love's grit and intellect. "Jordan is tenacious, intelligent, and unmistakably talented. His learning curve and determination speak volumes," Patrick commented.

Patrick believes that letting a quarterback like Love develop naturally without excessive scrutiny aids in their growth. "Playing quarterback is intensely scrutinized, making it challenging. I respect those who can swiftly adapt. Personally, I'd prefer to let them evolve and see where it leads," said Patrick.

The Bears feel they have deciphered Love's playstyle for Sunday. His agility and unpredictability pose challenges, especially with limited game footage available. However, daily drills against their own quarterback, Justin Fields, gives the Bears a perceived edge in preparing for Love.

A fresh chapter in the Bears-Packers rivalry unfolds this Sunday with Love, a comparatively new face for the Packers. But the Bears believe they've got a decent read on him, thanks to insights from their own squad.

Equanimeous St. Brown, a wide receiver for the Bears, summed it up: "Love is a commendable quarterback. His time behind Aaron limited his exposure, but he's definitely skilled."
