While being interviewed on the "2nd Wind Podcast," former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier shares what his life is like now, and what it could have been if he never got injured.

In week 13 of the 2017 NFL season, the NFL world witnessed one of the scariest injuries in league history, which ended the career of a 2-time Pro Bowler.

After making a head on tackle, Shazier lied on the field grabbing his back, and calling for help. He then continued to lie with his back on the field, unable to move his legs. After being taken to the hospital, it was revealed that he suffered from a spinal contusion, which then required surgery.

Doctors did not know if Shazier would ever walk again, but he has since been seen jogging. Even with making amazing strides in recovery, Shazier was still unable to play football again, and retired from the NFL in 2020. Now, Shazier is speaking out about what could have been...

Shazier recalls on the podcast about how he was eyeing an extension deal, but that never happened. He recalls how everything changed, and he missed out on life changing money, all because of this one play in a game. Shazier said:

"Have you ever played in front of 10 million people? You felt like you was the best in the world at what you did. You got hurt, you only had to play five more games and then you were gonna make the most money you've ever made in your life. And then all of that stopped abruptly. Nobody actually understands what you are going through"

With only 46 games played, Shazier ends his career with 299 tackles, 7 sacks, 7 interceptions, and 7 forced fumbles. A promising career cut way too short...
