According to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, Pollard is open to the idea of taking a hometown discount to remain with the Cowboys.
Taking over as the team's primary running back in 2022 amid Ezekiel Elliott's declining production, Pollard has consistently surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in the last two seasons, recording a career-best 1,007 yards in 2022.
However, Pollard is just one of several notable running backs expected to hit the free agency market next week, alongside Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, and Saquon Barkley. Despite his willingness to accept a discounted contract, the changing landscape of running back contracts in the NFL might still prompt Dallas to explore other options.
With a week left before free agency officially begins, the Cowboys have the opportunity to negotiate with Pollard and potentially reach a deal. Otherwise, Pollard could attract considerable interest as a two-time 1,000-yard rusher on the open market.
