Indeed, Tom Pelissero reported that the Green bay Packers have released WR Sammy Watkins.
He was supposed to be a dangerous weapon for Aaron Rodgers. Indeed, they signed him this off-season and everyone had such high hopes for him, but it looks like it was a failed experience...
When healthy, wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been a mainstay in the Green Bay Packers offense this season, averaging 45 snaps per game through his first five contests.
However, since the Dallas game with Christian Watson healthy and then Randall Cobb returning against Tennessee, Watkins' role had been reduced to just over 20 snaps in those two games. Then against Philadelphia, he was hardly a factor, playing just four total snaps.
I think he could still help a potential playoffs team down the stretch...
Any team claiming Sammy Watkins would take the rest of his one-year contract, including just $186,667 in base salary plus $19,411.67 for each game he's active the rest of the regular season.
