Rob Gronkowski, who spent his entire NFL career catching passes from the legendary Tom Brady, has a discerning eye for talent and is not easily impressed. However, Justin Fields' performance in his second season left even the usually verbose Gronkowski struggling to articulate his awe.

"That dude is an absolute beast," Gronkowski stated during a recent interview with NBC Sports Chicago. Fields achieved the rare feat of becoming only the third quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season, joining the likes of Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick. The Bears quarterback set a single-game record with 178 rushing yards against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, eventually totalling 1,143 yards for the season.

Gronkowski went on to praise Fields' ability, saying "there is no doubt" that he is a franchise quarterback. "The way he sprints and flies by defenders looks like a gazelle in motion. I definitely think he's a franchise quarterback," Gronkowski declared.

However, Fields still has a lot of work to do to become a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. According to Gronkowski, Fields needs the right system and the right weapons around him to maximize his skills. The Bears are still working on developing an offensive system that will work best for Fields, but the team needs to surround him with more talented players as well.

Despite the Bears' offensive success during a four-game stretch in the middle of the season, where they averaged 31 points per game, the team's offensive line and lack of talent at skill positions eventually limited the offense's potential. To build on the progress made in 2022, the Bears must add more talent around the young quarterback.
