The Chicago Bears will face the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 11 at Soldier Field to open the 2022 regular season.

This also means that the team will have to make a lot of cuts because we expect them to have to narrow down from 85 players (start of camp) to 53 players at the end of the preseason.

It's now time to try and guess which players will be on that final roster come week 1. For the Quarterbacks, it's pretty easy. We know that, barring something crazy happening, Justin Fields will be the starter and Trevor Siemian will be his backup.

But, we will see instant competition at the next position which is running back. Here is who Bears writer Courtney Cronin believes will be on that final roster.

RUNNING BACK (4): David Montgomery, Khalil Herbert, Trestan Ebner, Darrynton Evans

The Bears have the personnel needed for an outside zone rushing attack and consider their backs assets in the passing game. Chicago might also tab Ebner with responsibilities as a returner. Montgomery is in a contract year.

FULLBACK (1): Khari Blasingame

Blasingame isn't just going to be lined up in the backfield or called upon as a blocker. He'll fill less of a traditional role and find himself on the perimeter from time to time.

I think this is the correct guess and I also expect those two positions to play a crucial role in the Bears' success. The running backs and full backs are so important in the scheme that we assume Luke Getsy will run.
