Here are the two biggest winners of Day 1:
New York Jets
I think this one is so obvious. I'm sure that 100% of Jets fans woke up very happy this morning. They selected, in my opinion, the best player in the draft in CB Sauce Gardner with the 4th pick. He is extremely tall, rangy and has the speed to match his physically. He was a consensus All-American in college and he is the closest thing we have seen to a lockdown corner since Jalen Ramsey was drafted in 2016.
They then picked WR Garrett Wilson out of The Ohio State University. Wilson was seen as the best receiver in the year's draft by most experts. The fact that he was available at pick No. 10 is mind-boggling. He will be a force to be reckoned with for years.
Finally, they were able to select EDGE Jermaine Johnson out of Floria State. Johnson will add a boost to a pass rush that finished among the bottom 10 last season in sacks. He was also widely seen as a sure-fire top 15 pick. Great value again.
The Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles started their night by picking the HUGE DT Jordan Davis. He is so unbelievably big and athletic. He weighs 341 pounds and ran a 4,78 40-yard-dash. This is pretty much all you need to know. Davis dominated the NFL Combine last month and he also has amazing tape to back it up at Georgia. He was considered by many as a top 5 player in college football last year.
However, their biggest move was when they traded picks 18 and 101 in return for superstar A.J Brown. The Eagles has so many troubles in the past few years finding receivers in the draft. Well, you could say that "drafting" A.J Brown with the 18th pick is amazing. I know that Brown is older than most rookies and he just received a huge 100$ contract, but he is an amazing player that will make life so much easier for the Eagle in 2022. and beyond.
