Fields needs to be great
What I mean by that is that QB Justin Fields must play a near-perfect game. He has to show that he has taken a huge step from where he was during his rookie season. We have been hearing great things from training camp about him and we saw some flashes during the preseason, but now it's time to witness it in true regular season action.
The offensive line has to be able to hold up
In order for Fields to «be great,» he needs to have some sort of comfort in the pocket. Of course, this will not ea an easy task since the bears have a lot of young players starting on the offensive line and the 49ers have one of the premier defensive lines in all of football. Nick Bosa will clearly have the offenses' full attention.
The defensive front has to neutralize the run game
At this moment, all signs point toward TE Goerge Kittle being absent in Sunday's contest. This should make the secondary's task a little easier. I think this might force OC Kyle Shanahan to lean on the run game even more. His zone-run scheme is one that Matt Eberflus is very used to and I expect that he will have his defense ready for it, especially since they had multiple weeks to prepare in camp.
Young QB Trey Lance might have to make some plays by himself and I'm not certain he will be able to do so.
This will be an amazing match and I can't wait to see what our team has in the belly!
