Here is the betting line for the Bears' week 1 matchup
The 49ers may have a lot of uncertainty under center, but they'll still be favored to begin the season with a victory. Tipico Sportsbook had Week 1 lines out after the NFL's schedule was released, and San Francisco is favored by 6.5 points on the road against the Bears.
For those of you not familiar with a point spread, let me explain.
This is the most popular bet on any NFL game and is also known as line betting or sides. Each game will have a favorite and an underdog, and the sportsbook will decide by how many points the favored team should win by. You are then betting on whether the favorite will win by more than that number of points, or whether they'll win by less or the other team wins. Here is an example:

Here, the oddsmakers have decided that the 49ers should be considered the favorites by 4.5 points. If you place a bet on the 49ers here, they'd have to win by more five or more points for you to win, a $110 wager seeing you win $100. A bet on the Bears will see you win if either the Bears win, or if they lose by four or less points � once again $110 will win you $100 here.
At this point, we don't know if Jimmy Garrapollo or Trey Lance will start. Most experts believe Lance will be QB1 but we have not heard anything confirming this.
However, as we all know, opening lines can shift a lot based on injuries, pre-season games and multiple other factors.
I believe the Bears will cover a lot of games as an underdog this year. I won't act like this Chicago team is going to go 14-3, but I am certain that they will be able to keep games very close. While I'm not sure +6.5 is what you would call an "auto bet", I believe if the line moves to +7, you have to strongly consider betting the Bears in this one!
