The Atlanta Falcons lost a new addition Tuesday before he ever suited up for them.

Defensive tackle Eddie Goldman has informed the team he intends to retire, the Falcons announced.
Goldman, 28, signed with the Falcons earlier this month after spending seven seasons with the Bears.
He opted out of the 2020 season but started 73 of the 81 games he played with the Bears and tallied 175 tackles, 13 sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Goldman was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Florida State.
In the end, Goldman elected to play last year after his opt-out but it was simply difficult to watch. The player he'd been two years prior wasn't there. While he did play fine on a few occasions, he was not worth the money he was receiving from the Falcons. That was a big reason why new GM Ryan Poles chose to cut him earlier this offseason.
Check out his best play as a Bear. This was such an impactful moment in that game!
