The Chicago Bears got their first win of the season on Sunday thanks to a last second field goal by Eddy Pineiro. While Pineiro's incredible kick has been the talk of the town over the last 24 hours, the dust is starting to settle and a discussion about the struggling Mitch Trubisky has opened up. To start the season Trubisky has put up a passer rating of 62.1% and 70.0% for a 65% rating over two games. He threw for 228 yards in Week 1 and 120 yards yesterday in Week 2. Trubisky has yet to throw for a touchdown but has racked up an interception. Michael Lombardi of The Athletic points out that while Trubisky completed two big throws in clutch moments, he doesn't believe it's looking good at the moment. Here's an excerpt on Lombardi's rant. "Nagy needs to find a way to get the offense moving without asking too much of Trubisky he also needs to stop trying to fool people. And Pace needs to start searching for a quarterback who can fit into their offense long-term and stop hoping that time will allow Trubisky to improve. The Bears would be the best team in the NFL if their most critical position was accounted for. And while defense alone has certainly gotten plenty of teams to the Super Bowl in the past, in this era, with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers as the competition, bad teams with great quarterbacks can find ways to win, but great teams with no quarterback won't."
