NFL owners got together last week in Phoenix and saw the introduction of a new regulation permitting NFL teams to play two Thursday night games during short weeks.
The league has delayed voting on flex scheduling for Thursday night games, which ultimately would prevent meetings between underperforming teams in prime time games.
Teams might play on Thursday at three different occasions if the flex scheduling plan is approved. However, only the first game will be counted as a short week if a club is scheduled to play on consecutive Thursdays.
49ers tight end George Kittle expressed his concerns about the physical strain that NFL players endure throughout a season, particularly highlighting the potential harm of playing two Thursday Night Football games per season.

Here's what he had to say on This Past Weekend with Theo Von:
«I'm in multiple car accidents every SundayI've had games where I hyperextended my knee, that's gonna affect your season. Or you burst a bursa sac in your knee. That's going to be there for several weeks. And if you get lucky, you don't have to deal with that stuff, it's a little bit better, but you're still getting into these car accidents.
You get in these car accidents and it takes likeThursday to Friday is when I start to feel like myself again. The more into the season you get, the more your body is wear and tear, wear and tear, wear and tear. Really now how I see it is, if I'm not doing football, I'm doing recovery.»
