Several NFL teams, including the Chicago Bears, were in attendance for Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter's pro day. Carter, who had initially planned to skip the NFL Scouting Combine drills, was booked for reckless driving and racing related to the car accident that killed his former teammate and a Georgia staffer. While he did participate in the positional workout, he skipped all other drills, and the Bears left with more questions than answers.

The team already had concerns about Carter's off-the-field behavior before the incident and will spend the next six weeks before the draft investigating the matter. Georgia coach Kirby Smart acknowledged that teams would have more direct and pressing questions for Carter given the situation.

Jalen Carter's Georgia teammates, coach Kirby Smart, and NFL coaches and staff have praised his competitive character, talent, and qualities as a teammate. Despite this, the NFL team, including the Bears, have concerns over his off-field conduct and the details surrounding his involvement in a car accident resulting in two deaths.

Carter skipped most of the drills during his pro day and left the Bears with more questions than answers, making his draft position uncertain. Smart acknowledged the challenges Carter is facing and plans to support him, but teams will have to weigh his talent against potential off-field issues before making a decision.
