The deadline passed, and Johnson was not traded, and he is now i talking about what he wants after the 2023 season.
According to Bears insider Josh Schrock, Johnson told the media today that he is still eyeing that contract extension, and would love to remain in Chicago. However, if he and the Bears cannot agree on a deal, then he will likely be leaving after the 2023 season:
Before the deadline approached, it was reported that Johnson and the Bears were negotiating potential extension deals, but that clearly did not work out. After this fell through, that is when Johnson requested the trade.
Johnson believes that he is "arguably" the best CB in the game right now, and wants the money to show for it. He is not expecting Patrick Mahomes type of money, but certainly wants more than the Bears were offering.
Johnson wants to be a Bear, but will likely leave if the two do not agree on a long-term deal.
