I have gone on the record saying Jaylon Johnson is a true baller. I think he will be great next season. However, you do need to have at least two other solid cornerbacks. At the moment, it is really unclear who would be the starters on the other side of Jaylon. When we think of "needs" for the Bears, we think of Oline and receiver. While those are true, the cornerback position is still very shaky.
26-year-old J.C Jackson would fit this role perfectly. He can line up in press coverage, he can take out opposing number 1 receiver and he can also play deep zone coverage. He is a ball-hawk cornerback if I have ever seen one.
Jackson had 8 interceptions and a league-high 23 pass deflections in 2021. His 25 interceptions since he joined the league in 2018 are good for the number one spot.
Although he would require to be paid a lot of money, he would really be a great fit and he would have a huge impact on the defense. We have seen what it does to bring in a true lockdown corner to a team. If you pair him up with what we think might be a top 3 pass-rushing defense, Jackson could be in for a huge year in Chicago. I think if Jackson is interested in the Bears, you would be crazy not to offer him a contract.
