The Chicago Bears have attracted interest in their front office staff for various general manager positions. ESPN's Lindsey Thiry reports that Jeff King, the co-director of player personnel for the Bears, is set to interview for the vacant Chargers GM role.
Jeff King, a former NFL tight end, initially joined the Bears in 2016 as a pro scout. Over the years, he steadily advanced through the organization's ranks, holding positions such as assistant director of pro scouting (2019-20), director of pro scouting (2021), and co-director of player personnel (2022 to the present). King's impressive abilities were noted during the transition from Ryan Pace to Ryan Poles, with Poles commending his skills in identifying talent, communication, and leadership within the pro staff. According to Poles, King played a crucial role in free agent meetings, making him a valuable asset to the organization.
Interestingly, Jeff King is not the only member of the Chicago Bears' front office to garner attention from other teams. Assistant GM Ian Cunningham, who was highly sought after last year, is also in the midst of interviews for GM positions with the Chargers and the Washington Commanders.
