Following Michigan's Rose Bowl victory over Alabama on New Year's Day, which secured their place in the CFP National Championship game next week, head coach Jim Harbaugh, who has faced recent scrutiny and NFL return rumors, was questioned about his future with the program. There have been strong links connecting him to the Los Angeles Chargers, especially after Brandon Staley's recent firing.

When asked if the upcoming national championship game could be his final one as Michigan's coach, Harbaugh skillfully avoided giving a direct answer. He responded, "My focus right now is on a happy flight back to Ann Arbor, Michigan," according to On3's Andy Staples.

Such a response is not surprising, as it would be unwise to engage in NFL speculation at this point. Harbaugh's priority should be winning Michigan's first title since 1997.

Nevertheless, the possibility remains that he might depart. Harbaugh's regular season was marked by a series of suspensions and the looming uncertainty of potential NCAA findings related to a sign-stealing probe. The university is reportedly making significant efforts to retain him, offering a substantial contract extension.

Michigan is set to face the Washington Huskies in the championship game next Monday at 8:30 PM ET.
