There has been a significant amount of speculation regarding the future of QB Justin Fields with the Chicago Bears as the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, and it's evident that both parties would benefit from a clean slate. Despite entering his third year, Justin Fields finds himself in a position very similar to where he was in his second year. He displays flashes of potential as a franchise quarterback but also moments where he appears more suited as a backup.

Fields' performance has been inconsistent at best, showcasing strong passing abilities in some instances and impressive rushing skills in others. Nevertheless, some within the Chicago Bears organization advocate for Fields to remain as the team's starting quarterback beyond the 2023 NFL season. However, retaining Fields in this role beyond 2023 could potentially set the franchise back by several years or more.

Amidst the ongoing discussions about potentially drafting Caleb Williams in the 2024 NFL Draft, it seems prudent for both Fields and the Chicago Bears to embark on a fresh start. The Bears currently hold the No. 1 pick, courtesy of the Carolina Panthers' first-round selection.

The Bears are well-positioned to acquire Williams, who, although yet to declare officially, is expected to do so. Chicago has been without a true franchise quarterback for a considerable time, and their commitment to an old-school defensive mindset has hindered their progress in the modern NFL landscape. Drafting Williams presents a promising opportunity for the Bears to rejuvenate their franchise.

Additionally, the Bears possess their own first-round pick within the top 10, allowing them to secure another highly regarded prospect in the first round alongside Williams. Justin Fields, on the other hand, has not demonstrated enough on the field to warrant the pickup of his fifth-year option.

With Caleb Williams, the Bears can reset their quarterback-related financial situation and secure a cost-controlled player for an extended period. Moreover, all indications point toward Williams as a potential star in the NFL. It's also plausible that other teams may express interest in Justin Fields, offering a day-two draft pick with the intention of making him their starter.

Considering that the Bears' offensive system may not have fully maximized Fields' potential, there's a possibility that a new team could unlock his abilities more effectively. One thing remains certain: both the Chicago Bears and Justin Fields could benefit from a fresh start.
