Justin Fields says his mindset is completely different from last year
Justin Fields' rookie season was filled with ups and downs. He showed amazing talent on some occasions and he showed that he still needs to improve in other departments.
Today is the start of a 3-day minicamp for the Bears. This camp is on a voluntary basis. Fields sat down with reporters for an interview this afternoon. Here is what he had to say about his mindset and the evaluation of his rookie year.
First of all, he was asked to describe his rookie year.
"Definitely a lot of ups and downs, but thankful for the experiences and stuff we had to go through. It's just going to make me better, so of course, I'm excited."
He was then asked if this is his team to lead.
"Yeah, of course. My mindset is completely different than last year. Excited to get out there."
What are your expectations for the 3-day minicamp?
"We're installing a whole new offense so it's really about just getting the guys out there on the field and running through the base plays and getting the feel of all the new players and stuff like that. We've just been building relationships, very excited to get out there."
Finally, a reporter asked what are his expectations of attendance for this voluntary minicamp?
"Especially on the offensive side of the ball, we need everybody here. I think we do have everybody here on offense, which is good. I think only a few guys are missing on defense. On the offensive side, we're pretty good."
I really like what I'm hearing from Fields and I truly believe that he has matured a lot since he got into the league. I expect a really successful off-season for him and hopefully, a successful season as well.
