Latest Report From NFL Analyst Suggests Zach Wilson Will Be Traded This, And He May Not Be Costly
Even though the New York Jets won't make any official declarations until after the season, it certainly feels like Zach Wilson is in his final weeks as a member of the organization.
However, if he is in fact traded, he might now garner much love from other teams.
Indeed, ESPN Jeremy Fowler's latest conversation with an NFL executive shows the Jets will do anything they can to trade Wilson away. He mentioned that the executive claims the Jets will do «everything possible» to trade Wilson in the offseason.
«I think they do everything possible to trade him but I think they wait until maybe even the preseason or into the regular season to get his value up,» an NFC executive told Fowler. «There's nothing right now that says a team wants the Zach Wilson experiment and will trade a draft pick for him. But it could be a Baker Mayfield-type situation [with the Rams] where a team has injuries at the position and needs a spot starter.»
The Jets are not the first and hardly the last to deal with a situation like this. As the offseason approaches, what they choose to do with Wilson will become one of the most intriguing stories to watch, throughout the entire league.
And, yes, jobs could end up riding on how they resolve it.
