Luke Getsy critical of the offense early in camp
New Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has the difficult task of turning around an offense that has consistently ranked among the worst in the league for the past couple of years. He knows it will take time for everyone to learn the new offense and master the playbook but he can't ignore some the mistakes made early in camp.
False starts and dropped balls were frequent during Thursday's practice and here was his response:
"It's the lack of execution that I'm focused on right now. That's what pisses me off more than anything. Right now it's getting that stuff taken care of ... and guys knowing what the heck to do."
Getsy and head coach Matt Eberflus wanted to keep everybody on their toes. So during random moments of practice, they sprung situational drills on the offense to see how they'd respond. That is often what led to the mistake. The defense would work to get offensive players to jump. It was a great experience for them since they'll see the same things during actual games.
