"It was a tough ending to Trey Burton's first season as a member of the Chicago Bears. As part of Ryan Pace's revamped offense, Burton registered 569 yards and six receiving touchdowns, both career highs. However when the regular season ended and the playoffs rolled around, Burton wasn't able to play in the Bears playoff game. There was some chatter at first that he wasn't able to play because of "nerves", however that proved to be wrong as he was dealing with a groin injury and then Burton underwent offseason sports hernia surgery. There's some questions regarding if Burton will be able to suit up for Week 1 and head coach Matt Nagy was asked about Burton's health on Wednesday. Nagy said that Burton is "right on schedule, if not further along".
Trey Burton is still going through maintenance behind the scenes, Matt Nagy said. But the veteran tight end is where the Bears expected him to be after offseason surgery. — Chris Emma (@CEmma670) August 21, 2019
