The Chicago Bears may face long odds of reaching the postseason, but their roster boasts a wealth of talent that's gaining recognition.
Fan voting is currently underway for the 2024 Pro Bowl, and early results show several Bears players leading in votes for their respective positions.
Among defensive ends, Montez Sweat holds the eighth spot. T.J. Edwards is ranked tenth among linebackers, Cole Kmet is also tenth among tight ends, and Khari Blasingame sits at fifth among fullbacks.
Sweat, acquired in a recent trade, has been instrumental in the defense's resurgence, boasting 9.0 sacks for the year, tied for the thirteenth most in the NFL, including 2.5 in the last two games. Edwards has an impressive 127 total tackles, tied for the third-most in the NFL, along with six tackles for loss, two sacks, six QB hits, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Kmet signed a contract extension before the season started and has proven to be a crucial asset in the passing game, with 56 catches for 482 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games. Notably, Kmet is the only offensive player with 60-plus targets who has not dropped a pass this season, according to Pro Football Focus. Blasingame, re-signed during the offseason, has made significant contributions as the team's primary blocker in the running game.
However, there are a couple of deserving Bears players who were conspicuously absent from the initial round of fan voting. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson has been having a standout year, including three interceptions, establishing himself as one of the NFL's premier cover cornerbacks. Meanwhile, wide receiver DJ Moore ranks ninth in the NFL in receiving yards (1,003) and has achieved his fourth 1,000-yard season in just six years in his career.
