It was announced a few weeks ago that the Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with safety Dane Cruikshank on a one-year deal with over $1 million guaranteed.

At the moment, I really like the signing and I still do. I truly think he could provide excellent play and he may very well compliment S Eddie Jackson with his physical style of play.

Cruikshank, listed at 6"1, 210 pounds was a fifth-round pick out of the University of Arizona in 2018. The defensive back played mostly on special teams through his first two seasons in the NFL, appearing in 28 total games. He then took a massive step in 2021 and had the best season of his career. The 26-year-old set career-highs across the board while appearing in about half of his team's defensive snaps. In 14 games (four starts), Cruikshank collected 43 tackles and one forced fumble. He has shown that he can provide excellent play in pass coverage and also be a pretty solid run-stopper.

Here is what he posted on Twitter yesterday:

Footballs saved my life Y'all finna stop playing wit me after this year. #Underdog - Dane Cruikshank

Dane is speaking like a man on a mission and I like it!

Our beloved GM Ryan Poles had very good words on his behalf as well:

"Dane brings a combination of size and speed to our defense and special teams. We thought his competitive mentality stood out on tape and are excited to add him to our defense." - Ryan Poles
