Arizona Cardinals receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was arrested Wednesday morning on criminal speeding charges, the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed to NFL.com.

Brown was arrested at 7:05 a.m. heading southbound on Loop 101 driving in an HOV lane, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves.

Brown was not present with the team during the portion of Wednesday morning's practice that was in sight of reporters but has been working back from a hamstring injury slowly since the start of training camp last week.

Brown was acquired by the Cardinals in a draft-night trade with the Baltimore Ravens.

During his opening news conference of training camp on July 25, Cards HC Kliff Kingsbury said he expects Brown to be a "really big part" of the Cardinals' offense after liking what he saw out of him during the offseason practices.

«We are aware of the situation regarding Hollywood Brown and have reported it to the NFL office as required,» the Cardinals said in a statement. «We will comment further as appropriate.»

In Arizona, criminal speeding is defined as anything 20 mph over the posted speed limit. It is a misdemeanor.

Brown caught 91 passes for 1,007 yards and six touchdowns for the Ravens last season.
