New details surfaced on Teven Jenkins' multiple issues...
A few days ago, Ian Rapoport reported that the Bears had been making and receiving phone calls about their young left Tackle Teven Jenkins.
I guess you could say that his time with the Bears has been tumultuous at best. After missing the first 11 games with a back injury, he started two of the final six with limited success. He had a poor Pro Football Focus grade on the season with a 47.5 overall.
After Jenkins went through an injury-abbreviated rookie season, he did not finish this offseason working primarily with the first unit. The Bears were using Braxton Jones, a rookie fifth-rounder, at left tackle and Larry Borom, a 2021 fifth-round choice, as their first-string tackles in camp so far. Chicago has since signed Riley Reiff. The 10-year veteran has worked as a starter throughout his career, and he should be expected to be a starter at one of the Bears' tackle spots. Reiff has played both left and right tackle as a pro.
This whole situation has been unclear since we are never quite sure what Jenkins is going through. However, new details surfaced as to why he currently is involved in trade talks and why the bears would want to get rid of him so soon.
There were two non-injury concerns about Teven Jenkins coming into the draft.
(Note: These weren't my concerns. I don't care about the draft and only focus on punters.)
1. Folks didn't think he had the lower body strength to be an elite NFL tackle.
And while that is a serious concern, most teams didn't see it as a deal breaker & had Jenkins on their boards as a 2nd/3rd round prospect.
2. Personality.
This is not «character». This is personality. Jenkins is supposedly a very good guy and teams liked him.

But there were multiple stories of Jenkins having emotional breakdowns when practices were too hard prior to his senior year.
One area scout was so adamant that Jenkins wasn't worth the risk, he convinced his team to pull the kid off their board entirely.

One friend told me IN THE SPRING, that the combination of Poles-Flus-Morgan would seriously test Jenkins' resolve.
Since that note I have constantly repeated the question, «How does this leadership view Jenkins?» Not where. How.
I think we have our answer.
