Jackson went down with a noncontact injury while defending Mike White's 54-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson with 5 minutes, and 9 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
While the early reports following the game were somewhat positive, it looks like Jackson could be out for a while after all. Indeed, Mike Garafolo reported that Jackson suffered what appears to be a significant Lisfranc injury in Sunday's game against the Jets. He also mentioned that Jackson is still receiving opinions on his foot, but he's considered out indefinitely. This is yet another tough loss for Chicago's defense which is already very weak.
Jackson is having a resurgence this year following a few very difficult seasons. In fact, he currently leads all NFC free safeties in votes for the 2023 Pro Bowl.
Lisfranc (midfoot) injuries result if bones in the midfoot are broken or ligaments that support the midfoot are torn. The severity of a Lisfranc injury can vary widely from a simple injury involving one midfoot joint to a complex injury involving many midfoot joints and broken bones.
