Josh Edwards from CBS Sports recently put forth a hypothetical trade scenario in which Carolina would move up to the first overall pick through a three-team deal with the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals. Edwards predicts that Carolina would select Young with the first pick, following the similar strategy employed by Philadelphia in 2016 when they traded for Carson Wentz.
Carolina has been struggling with a changing roster at the quarterback position since 2018, when injuries hampered Cam Newton's time with the team. The last time Carolina took a quarterback with the first pick was in 2011 with Newton, and it was a boon for the franchise. In three months, it will be determined if they will once again have a young, dynamic quarterback to bring hope to the organization.
